Jesus speaking to Nicodemus, a ruler and Pharisee in Israel, said, "Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again." (John 3:7) So what does this mean? Well, simply put it is you recognizing that you are a sinner and trusting in Jesus as your Saviour. Let's start at the beginning.
God created everything that you see. During the creation he made a man and then took of the man and made woman. God then placed both the man and his wife into a garden in Eden. He gave them to eat of all the fruit of the trees except for the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. After some time, the serpent talked Eve into believing that the fruit was good and that they would not die if they ate of the fruit even though God had told them they would die. Although they did not physically die immediately, they did die spiritually. You see, man passed on this sinful nature. Each and every person on this earth came into this world needing to be free from sin.
God is righteous and holy. He can not abide with sin, so in his perfect time he sent his only begotten son named Jesus to earth. This same Jesus died for the sin of man. (John 3:16) While on the cross (by the which he died) he became sin for us that we could go to heaven when we die. (1 Corinthians 5:21) You see, it is impossible for man with his sin to abide with God. So Christ took our sins on the Cross and died in our stead. If someone does not ask for Jesus to save them and forgive them of their sin, then they are against (an enemy) of God. They will be cast into a literal lake of fire after they are judged for their sins at the great white throne. (Revelations 20:11-15).
Again, you must be born again. If you are not saved, it is important you call, email, or speak with someone who can show you how to be born again.
